Peulh (sometimes spelled Peulh), also called Fulfulde or Pular (Pulaar), is the mother tongue of the Fulani ethnic groups and also a second language used in West Africa, particularly as a language spoken by other African ethnic groups.

It is spoken in about twenty states in West Africa (including Senegal, Mali, Mauritania, Gambia, Guinea, Cameroon, Niger, Burkina Faso, Chad, Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone and Sudan) from the banks of the Senegal River to the banks of the Nile, in Central Africa and in a small part of North Africa.

It is thus the mother tongue of the Toucouleurs of the Senegal River Valley and the Fulani of the Inner Niger Delta in Mali (Macina).
