Bassari or Onyan is a language spoken by the Bassari people. Their territory is located between Senegal and Guinea.
Bassari is also called: Onian, Ayan, Wo, Basari, Biyan, Onëyan, Tenda. It is similar to the Coniagui language, spoken in Youkounkoun and Koundara.

This language is used by about 17,910 people, most of whom come from the region of Kédougou, Koundara and Youkounkoun. As well as by a few Bassaris from the urban centers of Conakry, Dakar and Tambacounda.
