Tigrigna, also written as Tigrinya or Tigriña, is a Chamito-Semitic language that belongs to the Semitic language group. This language is mainly spoken in the north-east of the Horn of Africa. Thus it is the official language in Ethiopia, the regional state of Tigray and also in Eritrea.

Tigrigna had an estimated 4,320,000 speakers in Ethiopia (2007 figure).  2,540,000 speakers in Eritrea (2006 figure), and some 6,915,000 speakers in all countries combined.
