The Nuer are an East African people who live in the upper Nile valleys. They are also found in southern Sudan, mainly in the upper nile region. but they are also found across the border in ethiopia in the Gambela region.
According to the 2007 census, Ethiopia has a total population of 73,750,932. A population of 147,759 is reported as « Nuwer. In South Sudan, approximately 15% of the 12 million population (2016 figure) is Nuer.
This makes them the second largest ethnic group after Dinkas with 36% of the population.
