Gueze or Ge’ez, also sometimes called ancient or classical Ethiopian. It is an ancient Chamito-Semitic language of the Semitic language family spoken until the IVᵉ century. In the Horn of Africa and originated in the southern regions of Eritrea and the northern part of Ethiopia.
Geez was the official language of the kingdom of Aksum and later of the Ethiopian empire. Some ancient analyses suggest that it is to the origin of several languages of the region. What Latin is to French. but it seems today that they are in fact sister languages that have evolved in the same way. It is written using the eponymous alphasyllable.
