They speak Kóló (abusively and improperly called Ewondo), a Beti language whose number of speakers in Cameroon was estimated at 800,000 in 1982.6 The number of speakers of this language in Cameroon is estimated to have been 800,000 in 1982. The mother tongue of the Kóló, it is also a lingua franca used by other inhabitants of the region.
